The Millennium Stadium was built on the site of the former Welsh National Stadium, known as 'Cardiff Arms Park' the stadium was built as one of Cardiff's Millennium projects and was built for the year 2000 - hence the name 'Millennium Stadium'. The pitch has been roted 90 degrees to that of the old 'Arms Park' so that it now runs from north to south

The ground is built in a three tier layout (with 6 concourse levels) with the first and thrid tiers having the greater capacity. between the second and third teir is a row of executive boxes seating a total of 1,500 people which runs around the perimiter of the pitch.

The most notable feature of the stadium is its fully retractible roof. f in the event of heavy rain or other abnormal conditions (which to be frank are quite common in Wales) the stadium can fully close its roof in about 15 minutes costing approximately �2.50 in electricity costs, which is not bad considering each roof place weighs a whopping 400 tonnes.

The stadium is situated in the Centre of Cardiff and is well signposted. If driving, the stadium is fully signposted from the M4. If travelling by train, the 'Cardiff Cental' station is directly behind the South stand.
