Home to Poland's army club Legia Warszawa, Wojska Polskiego carries an intimidating atmosphere for any visiting fans. The stadium was used as a base during German occupation of the city in World War II, the end of which saw its near-total devastation in common with the majority of Warsaw. It was quickly rebuilt to its former glory though, and was the country's most important stadium until the industrial development of the south saw the national football team relocate to purpose-built Stadion Slaski. The national team still play here on occasion, though.
