Stadium Merdeka is also known has The Independence Stadium.The reason for this is that on 31st,August,1957 the stadium was the site of one of the nations most important events.It was here that power was transfered from the British empire to the newly independent Malaysian goverment.In February 2003 Merdeka was named as a national heritage building.
