The Major Dhyan Chand National Hockey Stadium was named after Major Dhyan Chand Singh who is a famous Indian hockey player - regarded by some as the greatest hockey player who ever lived. The stadium was first built for the 1951 Asian Games.The stadium is bowl shaped and boasts two synthetic hockey pitches.
