The Varsity Stadium was the home of soccer team Toronto Lynx, from 1997 till 2002.It was located in downtown Toronto, and was demolished in 2002 to make way for a new building developement for Toronto University.The Lynx now play at the picturesque Centinnial Park Stadium in Etobicoke.The Varsity Stadium opened in 1898, and was used by the university and the local community.It was regarded at the time to be the best athletics arena in Canada, and hosted many championship events.Other sports and events at the stadium includes lacrosse, Austrailian rules football, skating, professional wrestling, and many rock and jazz concerts.
