Estadio das Laranjeiras is a traditional football (soccer) ground in Rio de janeiro, Rio de Janeiro state, in South East Brazil.Rio is the second largest city in Brazil and stands on Guanabara Bay of the Atlantic Ocean.The stadium capacity is 8000 and is owned by Fluminense Football Club.It was built in 1905, and is one of the oldest stadiums in Brazil.On July 27, 1914, Fluminenses ground hosted the first match of the Brazilian national football team, against Exeter City FC, an English club.The match ended 2-0 to Brazil.In 1919 the maximum ground capacity was increased to 18000, after refurbishment.The first match was played on May 11th of that year, when the Brazil national football played Chile and won 6-0.The stadiums record currently stands at 21, 191 people, set on September 1, 1946 when flamengo beat Fluminese 5-2.
