Bangabandhu National Stadium is sited in the capital city Dhaka, on a channel of the Dhaleswari River.The stadium was formerly known as the National stadium or Dacca Stadium.The stadium was originally built for cricket matches but now used exclusively for football (soccer).The Dhaka's cricket headquarters have now shifted to the purpose-built Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur.The first cricket test at the stadium was between India and Pakistan January 1-4 1955.The stadium was named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-Father of the Nation.
